About The Role:
Working for the City of Charles Sturt, the Irrigation Designer is responsible for the design, planning and assessment of efficient and sustainable irrigation systems across parks, reserves, sporting fields and other public open spaces within the Cities of Charles Sturt, Marion and Port Adelaide Enfield.
This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality green spaces for the community, ensuring irrigation infrastructure aligns with Council’s asset management plans and environmental sustainability objectives. You’ll prepare detailed designs, specifications and cost estimates for new and renewed irrigation systems, undertake technical and hydraulic assessments, audit existing irrigation systems and recommend improvements.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders, construction and maintenance teams, contractors and external partners to deliver practical, water‑efficient and innovative irrigation solutions across Council’s open space network.
About You:
You are an experienced irrigation professional with strong technical capability and a passion for sustainable design. You bring demonstrated knowledge of irrigation systems, hydraulic principles and relevant Australian Standards, and are comfortable working independently while also collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
You’ll have experience producing detailed plans, specifications and cost estimates, using irrigation design software and GIS tools, and assessing existing systems to recommend improvements. A commitment to environmental best practice, innovation and continuous improvement underpins everything you do.
Formal irrigation qualifications, a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in irrigation installation, maintenance and management, and membership of a relevant professional body will be highly regarded. A current driver’s licence is essential.

The Construction and Delivery team helps build the future of our City. Featuring project and operations engineers, labourers and landscape developers who work on our tree canopy targets, we collaborate to create secure structures and appealing landscapes for our City.
The Detail:
The position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and is classified at MOA Level 6 with a starting salary of $111,989.68 (salary range of $111,989.68 to $119,435.59 per annum) + Super + Annual Leave Loading.
Flexible working conditions are available, and a commuter-use vehicle will be provided during work hours. Occasional after-hours work may be required to meet project deadlines.
